Warwick RAG and Economics Society held the third and final evening in the inaugural Warwick First Dates event last Monday 22nd January. The event series raised over £2500 for charity, with 500 students taking part.
Warwick First Dates saw over 500 Warwick students sign up to an event replicating the style of Channel 4’s popular First Dates TV show, where applicants are matched up to ‘the one’ for them based on their interests, and introduced to one another on a blind date. Participants were treated to a complimentary welcome drink and a discounted multi-course set menu at Xananas restaurant on campus.
The event was covered by The Tab, with reporters conducting exit interviews with candidates.
In total, the event raised over £2500 for the chosen charity, the Meningitis Research Foundation, which conducts research into prevention, detection and treatment of the disease; raises awareness of meningitis and its symptoms and provides support for those who have been affected by the disease. Students are the second largest at risk group from Meningitis (after babies and toddlers).
We would like to congratulate Oliver Preece (from Economics Society) and Maddie Perrett (from Warwick RAG) who teamed up to organise the successful inaugural event, which we hope will become a regular feature of the Warwick calendar.
